Navratri to Diwali crowds, a gate plan that holds
Garba nights, Mahakal corridor crowds, and Diwali melas compress footfall into two hours. Entry rates, barricade lines, and lady searchers decide whether the night ends on music or on panic.
Navratri colours crossed 500K searches in early October. ISL crossed 500K. Ujjain corridors filled. Every organiser in Indore and Bhopal knows the pattern. Two quiet hours, then a flood at 9 pm when everyone arrives together.
Crushes, rushed stages, blocked VVIP routes. Almost always a missing plan, not missing muscle.
Entry rate is the whole game
Tickets sold is not entry planned. If 4,000 people arrive in 60 minutes and each search takes 15 seconds, one search point clears 240 per hour. You need math, not hope. Managed queues, ticket and pass verification, controlled release per gate.
| Footfall in peak hour | Search points needed | Holding needed |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | 4 to 5 | One lane per gate |
| 3,000 | 12 to 14 | Barricaded pens |
| 5,000 plus | 20 plus, split gates | Hold and release zones |
Print the gate number on the ticket. Announce it on the PA. Keep emergency lanes empty even when the crowd pushes.
Barricades, search, and stage rings
One way circulation beats two way chaos. Barricade lines shape flow. Female searchers in screened areas handle women attendees. Stage gets rings. Outer ring for crowd, inner cordon for dignitaries, no crossover without passes.
Parking and traffic assist matter more than organisers admit. Vehicle pileup at exit triggers the panic that the stage did not. Marshal parking with police coordination.
Radio discipline and the debrief
Brief the full team on site before gates open. Gate assignments, holding capacity, escalation tree, hospital and fire lanes. Radios on one channel with call signs. After the event, log incidents, medical cases, and police escalations. The log is what improves next year.

Questions buyers ask us
How many guards does our garba night need?
Share footfall, gate count, and peak arrival window. We size from site plan and entry rate, not venue size alone. Lady searchers scale with women footfall.
Do we need bouncers or just guards?
Guards manage flow and tickets. Bouncers hold flashpoints and ejection. Most mid events need both, with a clear inner cordon for stage.
Who handles police permission?
The organiser owns permissions. We coordinate deployment with local police and administration once permissions are in hand.
